All information and data will be stored in line with the latest Data Protection legislation, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 2018.
As a self-employed play therapist, I am committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of my clients. This privacy policy outlines how I collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information.
1. Information Collection
I collect personal information that you provide directly to me, including:

· Reasons for referral
· Family background
· School information
· Session notes and progress reports
· Assessments and reports
2. Assessment Measures and Questionnaires
As part of the therapy process, you or the person who referred your child may be asked to complete questionnaires such as the Strength and Difficulties Questionnaire. These are used to assess the severity of any emotional, behavioural, or mental health issues and to determine appropriate treatment. Questionnaires are typically administered at the beginning and end of therapy to measure progress. Any reports containing identifiable information are marked as confidential and stored securely. If reports are shared externally, they are anonymised to protect your privacy.
3. Use of Information
I use the collected information to:
- Provide therapy services
- Maintain client records
- Communicate with you about appointments and treatment
- Comply with legal and professional obligations
4. Information Sharing
I do not share your personal information except in the following circumstances:
- With your explicit consent
- To comply with legal obligations
- To protect your vital interests or those of another person
- In case of emergency situations
5. Supervision and Quality Assurance
As a registered play therapist with the British Association of Play Therapists (BAPT), I participate in regular clinical supervision to ensure the quality and effectiveness of my practice. During these sessions, I provide verbal reports on each child's progress, including their challenges, session activities, and significant themes in their play. The clinical supervisor, who is highly experienced in child therapy, provides support, advice, and assessment. While notes may be taken during supervision, any documents containing identifiable information are marked as confidential. This process is essential for maintaining high professional standards and ensuring the best possible care for your child.
6. Data Security
I implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.
7. Data Retention
I retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide services and comply with legal and professional obligations.
